Mass HTML email and images
Note. The following information conserns 2.xx versions of Atomic Mail
Sender.
Atomic Mail Sender allows you to include images into your HTML
mass email messages. When you are sending an HTML-based email, there are
two ways to add graphics:
- Link images: in this case you need to add
code like this to your HTML:
<img src=http://www.yoursite.com/images/mypic1.gif>
and must have the image mypic1.gif uploaded to the site (you need
to have a site). The advantage of this way is the smallest size of the e-mail
message because it contains only a link to the image. The disadvantage is that
some users who access the Internet via a dial-up connection and who are currently off-line will not see the
linked image.
- Embed images: here you embed required
the graphics you need into the e-mail message. Part of the HTML code will be as follows: <img
src=mypic1.gif>. The file mypic1.gif must be attached to the
message, only this way it will be shown correctly in the recipient's mail program.
The advantage of this method is that you do not need a site with images,
the disadvantage is that the size of the message grows (because image files
are usually large). There is another problem with embedded images
if the recipient reads such an e-mail in the browser (using the mailbox web interface,
like mail.yahoo.com),
he will not see the image, because most web interfaces can't show
embedded images.
Now let's see how to link and how to embed
graphics into HTML emails.
How to link images
1. This method presupposes that you select Format /
External HTML Source in Atomic Mail Sender.

2. After this you need to paste HTML code from the clipboard to the Atomic
Mail Sender (the Edit / Paste command) or import
a HTML file (Edit / Import the text). After that
the source code of your HTML file will appear in Atomic Mail Sender's edit
area(i.e. future HTML e-mail).
3. Make sure that all links to images are valid (you can test how
it will look in the browser - Message / Check in browser).
Carefully look through the text, it must not contain links like
file://c:\Documents and Settings\Bill\My documents\My web pages\Images\my
photo.jpg, because nobody, but you will see such an image.
4. Specify the subject of your e-mail and your feedback information, fill the
list of recipients and send the mail.
How to embed images
1. This method presupposes that select Format /
HTML format in Atomic Mail Sender.

2. Choosing this method, you can compose your message the way it is done in Outlook.
You can use various text styles, fonts, sizes and colors. In addition
to this, you can add images to the text.
Atomic Mail Sender allows you to change the background of the message Format
/ Background / Picture. Use the dialog box to open the file and the background of your message
will be tiled with it.
To add an image (currently you can use with GIF, JPEG, BMP, ICO), simply
click the button on the toolbar
or select Format / Insert / Picture. Use the new dialog box
to browse for the file with your picture and click Open
to insert it. The image will be inserted near the cursor position in the edit
area.
3. Make sure that all images are displayed correctly in your browser (you
can test it - Message / Check in browser).
4. Specify the subject of your e-mail and your feedback information, fill the
list of recipients and send the mail.
That is a small example of how The Bat! (an e-mail client) shows a
message sent from Atomic Mail Sender.
